You Can’t Farm Smartly Without Smart Farmers. And entrepreneurs. And community support. And knowledge.
One of our main missions is teaching people how to grow food and sharing such knowledge with the community. We have a network of passionate, dedicated farmers and agriculture professionals on our team, on our board of advisors and within our greater community around North Texas. We have worked to create a certified training program for aspiring farmers and people looking to get into farm management as well as other related ventures.
Our Hatcher Station Farm manager, Tyrone Day, dedicated himself to learning the craft of horticulture while wrongfully incarcerated for several years. Since his release (and a pending case of compensation from the state) he has turned his passion and knowledge into real-world action leading our day-to-day farming operations while teaching and mentoring other members of the community, one that he himself grew up in and still calls home.
We have also partnered with Texas A&M Agrilife and their Master Gardeners to help maximize our land use, our yields, and streamline our operations. Other amazing partners include Big Tex Urban Farms and their co-founder Drew Demler, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center in South Dallas which has been gracious enough to allow us to set up our Seedling Farm on their property.
